Can I change my oil less frequently if I use full synthetic oil? I have a

2002 Ford Escape.? I have heard that I if I use full synthetic oil, instead of conventional, I can use it twice as long before and oil change.

Anyone know if the recommended oil change interval on a 2002 Ford Escape is 3,000 miles? Could I essentially double this to 6,000 miles if I use full synthetic?
