Can I claim tax back on film tickets/DVD purchases as a film student?

I'm a film student at University in Australia and was informed by a friend that I would be able use my DVD receipts and film ticket stubs as legitimate deductions on my tax because of my degree. I was also told that I would be able to claim on pay TV subscription also. Is any of this sounding plausible?
