Can i Connect my Xbox360's internet connection from a distance?

I have an Xbox360 in my room, but its upstairs and the modem is downstairs. i dont have money for another modem,neither do i have a phone connection in my room, so i was wondering if i could connect it from upstairs.
 
You should contact Xbox 360 and your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to find out strategies to get a connection working.

If you really want help regarding Xbox 360 from people on Yahoo! Answers, you may want to delete your question and repost it in the Consumer Electronics > Games & Gear > Xbox category.
 
I had the same problem but after making a few enquiries the answer is "yes" it may slow your connection down but the amount it slows it is barely registerable.
