Can I convert MKV and AVI files into DIVX files?

I have MKV and AVI files for a movie that I want to put onto a disc as DIVX files so I can play them on my PS3. Any good programs to convert?

I've already tried DivX Plus Converter, but it won't work for some reason. It either fails or gets stuck at 11%.
 
mkv2dvd i use it to burn dvds. But you can save it as an iso, then convert that to divx
