Absolutely! It can be done and the more you learn the more you will be able to apply your knowledge and refine your "creation" until you have an amazing form of transportation! You can do a set-up where you are able to recharge nightly and +never+ have to pay for gasoline or emmit its carbon +ever+ again! Electricity is cheaper at night and wont pull any more power than all the other stuff people normally leave plugged in overnight. Your Galaxy 500 could hold the solar panels that will charge it during the day - solar sheet and paint is beginning to become available too so there's another huge area of possibilities.
Don't let anyone tell you that it can't be done - it already has! I have heard the Army is powering a tank with solar! We need as many people as possible to jump on this and ride like the wind! -Hey there's another idea - wind turbines in the engine compartment, Hmm...

Good Luck!

The curb weight of a Ford Galaxie is 3800 pounds which isn't the far off from a modern car. it's got the room for batteries and the surface area for solar arrays. it might be a perfect candidate for an electric conversion. some weight reduction will be required, but can be accompished.
the reason is to get america to stop thinking that everything is impossible, so why try. and to get gear heads and eco nerds to think outside their narrow boxes. come together america.
