Can I convert xvid to blu ray ( Read description)?

Can I convert divx to blu ray and use a regular dvd drive with regular dvds and get a better resolution and picture would this work? Right now I am using a xvid to dvd converter, was just curious to know if I was to use a xvid to blu ray converter if that would make a difference and if it would work since I have just a regular dvd drive and not a blu ray compatible drive, and I don't have blank blu ray discs. Also could I use blank blu ray disks on a dvd drive and burn them or no?

Mainly I just want to know if I use a xvid to blu ray converter if I would be able to convert and burn to a regular dvd-r with a dvd drive. And if the quality would be any better from a regular xvid to dvd converter.

The quality won't be better that the original file was. Meaning, if the original file was medium or bad quality, then burning it to a blu-ray will not increase the quality. However, if you have to compress the file to fit to a dvd, it will increase the quality to burn to blu-ray.
