I've had my Dsi for a few months now, and of course got a warranty on it. Even registered it and got the warranty extended. But the right shoulder button stopped working. And at first I considered getting a new Dsi, but already had saved stuff on it that I wouldn't be able to get back Plus I couldn't find the receipt. Then I considered getting it repaired, and am going to. I still have the original box it came in. So, in the event that something happens to my dsi that is beyond repair would I be able to get a new dsi without a receipt?

When you use your warranty to get your game system repaired you'll be calling Nintendo directly. You probably wont need the original box. Nintendo will most likely mail you a prepaid/postmarked box to put it in.

The receipt is not needed to invoke the benefits of your extended warranty.

It depends on the store. My friend bought hair color at Walmart for $3 and returned it to CVS and got $8.

So it is possible.
