Can I get an automatic transmission for a VW bus?

I have been looking at getting a volkswagen bus(1967 type) for a long time but my dad will not let me get one unless it is somehow automatic(I would rather drive it manual). So I was wondering if I can put an automatic transmission from a later model or something like that. If it is possible how much do automatic transmissions cost?
