Im making chicken and steak fajitias. I dont want to thinly slice them before grilling like most recipes call for. Can i leave the peppers whole or havled and grill them?

Yes, cut them in half or quarters, cut out the stem, seeds and the (white) veins inside. I put mine in a bowl and pour in some olive oil and a few spices on them and shake them around to coat. I find that about five minutes per side on the grill is about average. You want to see the beginnings of a char forming on the outside.

I put mine skin side down first since I find that side chars faster so I just check until I find the nice char and then flip them and I don't have to worry too much about them for a while.

Edit: I should have added that yes, you can alternatively cook them whole but as I said, I have found the skin side chars faster so you might get to the char before the pepper is really heated through.

It's funny you mentioned this. I grill my peppers then sweat them in a bag. I peel off the skins and can them in oil. I do this every summer when they are in season. I do not cut them of core them till they have been sweated and peeled.

No you cannot grill peppers on a gas grill, it is illegal and it will explode.
