Can i have SKY + on a Communal Sky Digital Satellite Dish ?

I understand to have Sky + a different LNB is needed on the communal sky digital dish i share ? Is this correct ? I believe this is so you can record one channel and watch another on SKY + ? What if i just need to record the one channel ?
