I live in the West Coast of Scotland so it's usually cold and raining. I'm getting ferrets soon but my parents won't let me keep them in the house due to the smell. I'm worried they might get hypothermia outside and die, or get bitten by insects etc? is it safe?

Well, there's no law against it - unless that Alex Salmond has been getting carried way with his own self-importance again...

However, I'd suggest you check a few ferret-keeping websites and find out that way.

In traditional ferret-country (Yorkshire), They keep ferrets outdoors (in sheds) all year round - and it gets pretty chilly up there! So I expect you'll be ok - but check anyway.
