Can i replace a vodafone sim card with an orange sim card in a Sony

Ericsson K800i phone? All my friends top up their phones with £10 a month and get free texts and im stuck on vodafone where you have to pay 10p a text and you get no free texts at all.

Can i replace the sim to get all these free texts?
