can i simply buy an iPhone for personal usage?

Okay I have an iPod touch, 8GB.
I was wondering if I could buy an iPhone, just like that? You know? I am not going to make phone calls from it. I just simply want one for personal usage so I can take photos, and use the wifi feature, if it has one. So can I buy an iPhone either way I am not going to use the cellphone service.
 
yep put the iphone into flight mode like you can do on any phone it turns off the transmitter and receiver.

PS if you decide to use the phone part turn it back on ... byw texting on a touch screen phone is not as good as a normal qwerty phone.
Also be award the battery in the iphone are not that great.

You will need your charger with you constantly.
 
The new iphone 4 just came out today! yay! but i dont think it is possible to get the phone like that unless you talk to a special company like apple or something but other than that i have no idea! but check with the apple company.
