Can I suddenly develop an allergy to alcohol? ?

I have a rash over my whole body, and it seems to get worse when I drink, I only noticed this after drinking yesterday and my rash is really bad today. Its raised and bumpy, like little pin pricks and it is very itchy. I have drunk alcohol for years and never had anything like this, can an allery suddenly develop?
