I-phones are from Apple..So you can use the APPLE Computer and MAC OS to Unlock it...It detect only with that Computer....To Unlock the I-Phone 3GS easily ...I would suggest the Remote Unlock service.You can buy that at here Simpleunlocking.com/apple-iphone-3g-s/rs16wp9/ and unlock it from network lock....You need to install the latest version of I tunes to Unlock it.
