can i use a cell phone with telus if it was used with rogers?

can i use a unlabeled and unlocked cell phone with telus if it was on a rogers plan before? i bought this phone directly from Sony and i am wondering if i can use it with telus if i used it with rogers before?
the phone was purchased at the sony store itself it was not on any plan or pay as you go with any company untill i inserted my chip from rogers. wouldnt i be able to use it with telus ?

Sorry but NO, Telus phones are CDMA and IDEN, Rogers are GSM, technologys are not compatible

You have a GSM phone, again as stated above, Telus phones are CDMA and IDEN, you can not use a GSM phone on a CDMA or IDEN network
