Can I use a Palm Centro on a Sprint family plan?

I am thinking about joining my aunt's family plan on Sprint, and the phone I want is the Palm Centro. But when I was playing around online, I "started" my own family plan, and the Centro was not an option. Does anyone know if you can use the Centro on a Sprint family plan?
Nathan - would buying the phone new online or in a Sprint store be a locked or unlocked phone? I don't quite understand what locked/unlocked means.

If it isn't unlocked with another carrier, I don't see the problem, if you are locked in to another carrier, buy an unlocked version of it on eBay, or unlock it yourself or at a shop such as a Cricket cell phone retailer (not found in all of the United States, but can be found throughout Texas.)
