Can I use divX to resize my video for upload?

I have divX, but I havn't gotten to working with it much. I have a video, and converted it to avi when I published it to the computer from Windows Movie Maker. However, the file size is huge, and even though the video itself is only five minutes long, it is Waaayy over the 100MB required.
I will need some step-by-step with divX 'cause I'm not familiar with it.
 
well, i have seen this in other cases, where people put movies and stuff into parts.

example: toy story part one,
then go make it in less then 10 minutes. then go part two, part three ext...

my true advice though, is to NOT upload it. it will be copyrighted and will get your account suspended. if it is just say your video you made, upload it in parts
