Can I use my GFs directv HD receiver we both have service?

Mine is the plain jane receiver , can we just switch em?

She has completed her contract months ago , hers is HD and w'er at my house 99% of the time.

Will it work?
She thinks it will , but I'm afraid DTV will send us a nasty bill...what do you think?
 
It would be easier to give a certain answer if we know specific model of receivers and antenna that you each had. To get high def service in most areas and to get all the channels, you have to have the slimline 5 LNB antenna.

So you need to check the setup of the high def receiver and know what it means. If you do not have the right antenna, there will be at least some stations you will not get.
