Can I use SAE 30 API SM in place of 10w/30 oil in my 95 4.0 jeep cherokee sport?

My wife picked up some oil for me but she got SAE 30 API SM instead of 10w/30. My jeep needs an overhead and it's burning oil so I need to top it off before she can leave today for work. Can I use the SAE 30 API SM oil instead of normal 10w/30?
I need to know if I can actually use this oil right now so she can go to work. Mainly if it will cause any damage if I put this in so she can go to work. If it won't work then I'll have to find a ride to get the right oil since it's to low right now to drive anywhere.

One quart won't hurt anything. By the way, your 4.0 Jeep should have had 5W-30 right from the get-go! To only way to "stave off" oil consumption now is to feed her 5W-30 with Rislone Oil Treatment, Rislone Oil Seal or Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer.

It's dangerous to fill the entire crankcase with 30 weight because during cold starts the oil pump takes a long time to force thick molasses up stairs to critical frictional surfaces.
