According to MTV News, the producers of “Two and a Half Men” have tapped
as the man to replace Charlie Sheen. This will be the first TV role for Kutcher since playing Michael Kelso on “That ’70s Show.”
I’m not sure that he can pull it off. Sheen and Kutcher’s style of comedy is quite different. Kutcher is generally loud and obnoxious in his attempts to be funny, while Sheen is more subdued yet sarcastic.
Not many TV shows have had success when replacing a main actor with someone else playing the exact same character. Most viewers never can make the transition.
Reportedly British actor Hugh Grant passed on joining “Two and a Half Men” and other Sheen replacements that were considered included Woody Harrelson, John Stamos, Jeremy Piven and Rob Lowe.
