Can my boss force me to take vacation time to shut down for Christmas?

Every year during the Christmas/New Year's time my boss closes down the office. He forces us to take either unpaid leave or our own vacation time. He has done this three years in a row. Is he allowed? BTW we live in Texas
To clarify - we are part of a larger sized corporation. The rest of the businesses/offices do not shut down, just our office by decree of my boss. The point is that it doesn't have to be shut down. Can he do that if it is not corporate policy? Also, we just recently combined our business with a sister company. The other company will not be shut down. Does that make a difference, if it is not a company wide policy?

THE OFFICE IS CLOSED>

YOU are NOT working.

YOU are NOT entitled to be paid. Or you can use vacation pay.

Seems about right doesn't it????

Since he has not legal obligation to give you paid vacation time AT ALL, he can certainly require you to use that during a shutdown. Even in jurisdictions that do mandate vacation time, it is legal to set a common shut down period.

If the business is closed then you're not working. If you're not working then what the f*** do you think you should get paid for? What planet do you live on where you're entitled to get paid without having to work? If your employer is generous to give you paid time off, which they are NOT required to do, then this seems like a good time to take advantage of that perk.
