Can my car run without and of the carb vacuum hoses connected?

That is your vacumn advance, you won't be able to get it to run well without the vacumn lines on the carb. you will at least need to cap them off
 
I have a c10 Chevy 1/2 ton v8 350. Holley carb 4165 and there's a vacuum hose that goes to the distributor. What dose that hose do? But can I drive it and run it with out any hoses on it?
