Can Nook Color 2 compete with iPad?

Nook Color 2 will be released soon but there is limited information on it. Is it a good idea to buy it instead of an iPad?
 
I have an iPad and I use it for everything. But reading on it can strain your eyes. But other than that it's pretty good. I'm actually typing this on one right now.
