W.H Auden’s extensive poem, "The Unknown Citizen," is a unique account that embellishes the story of a common man living an average life. From the opening lines of the poem to the closing lines of the poem, an ironic tone is clearly established and distinguished. Auden's primary purpose in composing this poem is to illustrate how the government’s view of the perfect modern man inevitably changes when all citizens were expected to conform into exactly what society expected of them. The entirety of the poem is composed mainly of rhyme patterns, unusual diction, and verbal irony while telling the complete story of an ordinary man living a normal life filled with habitual tasks and responsibilities.

This is for a poem analysis- Thanks in advance!!!
