can someone explain the time lines in dragonball Z?

okay i understand most of it but can someone explain it in detail.

when trunks kills the androids the cell kills him and hijacks his time machine, is that a totally different trunks. if its the same trunks how does he come back to the present the 2nd time.

plz explain in a lot of detail thank you
