The French, always claiming superiority, were the first to crack under the economic situation. They took to rioting last week and calling for their leaders to step down. The Russians followed this week. In America, the citizens are calm and the Repubican party is attacking our government. Huh?

The American people have deluded themselves into believing the govt will save them. They think Obama will rescue everyone with some pie-in-sky promise of free money, free insurance. The common "entitlement" attitudes grow stronger daily.

I'm all for the Republican Party. They have keen insight into the politics of the left. The current so-called stimulus package is a joke, indeed.

When the Americans wake up one day and realize that they live in a socialistic society and have to wait months for various things they want - and can't get - then there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, the likes of which the entire world has not heard!

Because they are responsible conservatives.

However, if they were liberals. . . . .

I'm pretty sure the Icelander's were the first to crack. Their entire economy and government collapsed. I think the reasons for this is that we have been fortunate enough not to have experienced the kinds of catastrophic economic collapses seen elsewhere. We have an expectation that our economy is too big to fail and a confidence that it'll recover. I suppose these other countries lack that confidence and are willing to take any measures, even violent ones, to prevent such a calamity.
