I want to get the new Sony BDU-X10S Blu-Ray Drive. my computer consist of a Intel Duo Core E6420 processor(2.13 GHz), 2 GB of Ram, 8600GTS Video Card and Windows XP. Will i get the same picture using a DVI or HDMI?

HDMI would be better though you probably won't notice any difference.

Your computer is powerfull enough to run it.

Have fun :)

Yes your computer is powerful enough to decode and display HD movies.

DVI and HDMI are identical, so in regards to the first answer, HDMI is not better. HDMI simply transmits sound in addition to video, and seeing as how a graphics card does have a sound output, it wouldn't matter.

However, what you need to look out for is 1) Your monitor/TV out's display resolution (Must be 1080x720 or 1280x1080 for HD resolution. Other sizes will feature letterboxing or black bars) and 2) Your sound card's decoding ability. Blurays are capable of holding up to 7.1 surround, so you need a good sound card to decode the more advanced codecs.

Most soundcards have support for most codecs, but the lossless codecs available on Bluray might not be supported by your current sound card. It's possible that you can download the codec though, and decode via software rather than hardware.

If you're not going to use 7.1 or 5.1 don't worry about it though.
