Can something be done to a gossiping manager that starts rumors in the workplace?

I want to know is there any legal actions that a former coworker of mine can take about a manager that gossips. She was just terminated without cause or reason, which I know is legal in my state. Some of my coworkers and I all know and agree that it was racial discrimination which we have proof and she is deciding to take this matter to court.

Can she also state that the manager starts rumors and gossips? (Which he does, btw)
Can HE get in trouble for this?

The reason that is significant to this case is because a day before she was fired, he told me that he was gonna terminate her because of "retaliation" for telling another employee of a rumor that was going around about her which was started by him, the manager!

Can something be done about this? He claims that there is suppose to be no gossip among employees but he's ALWAYS the one behind these rumors!

Please help :)
