Can the Republican Party win any major elections without relying on Wedge Issues?

i think gay marriage and abortions are like NUMBER 12 AND 13 on a republicans list of issues

Spending ourselves into oblivion seems like a winning issue to me. I wouldn't call that wedge.

They are more apt to rely on economics these days than rely on social issues, but there are still "values' voters" who think that Republicans actually want to overturn Roe v. Wade, which they really don't, because it's a good vote getter each time; without it, they would lose the values' vote.

An embarrasing % of cons consider those non-issues to be their most important concerns. Pathetic.

ALL the differences between the Policital Parties ARE wedge issues. Otherwise, why bother having more than one Party if everyone is just 'ho hum' about issues?
