i currently have the droid and my mom has a plan set up where i am added on (family plan) for 10 dollars a month to use her minutes.
she also pays extra for my internet, texting, an so on.
If i buy the new iphone 4 can i still pay the 10 a month to be apart of her plan or do i have to start a separate one?

If you have a smartphone now, and you're eligible for an upgrade, then it won't cost you any extra. If you have a feature phone, then you will need to purchase a data plan to use the phone.

Well that depends. Your mom is the primary account holder and she has the family plan. She can technically add another line to her account if she wishes. That means she would have three lines (one for herself, you and another line for the iphone). She would pay the extra $10.00 for the line and then another $30.00 for the data internet plan for the iphone. All the minutes will be shared if she gets another line.

If you purchase the iphone you would have to create a new account which would be a individual account. The lowest monthly voice plan would be 39.99 a month for 450 minutes. Then you would have to add the data internet plan of 29.99. Also if you want unlimited text messaging that would be 20.00

The best thing is to talk with your mother if you want to add another line to her account since she already has a family plan. Otherwise you would have to create a new individual account under your name and not your mother.

Well with AT&T I am still on a family plan but my data charge for internet was raised from $15 (old phone) to $25 data (new iPhone) for 2gigs. I would assume it would be similar for Verizon.
