Was thinking about moving over there from Miami, Florida but I want to make sure I won't have a hard time finding employment. How much money do they make, on average?
They are in demand everywhere. It would depend on the unemployment rate. In that line of work how much experience and your driving record are the most important factors in finding work.
I'll agree with someone else who said "they're in demand everywhere" - but just like Miami, FL its not one of the top destinations. Also, what type of driving are we talking ? Over the road ? Intermodal ? Regionally with a private fleet ? Local delivery with a parcel carrier ?
All of these questions are relevant. If your going to work for a common carrier, Colorado is not known as a manufacturing state (as opposed to IN, OH, PA). I'm sure with a clean record and a little bit of experience you can get hired about anywhere, but exactly what type of driving you'll be doing is another story. TX has a lot of positions open right now in various types of work -- Dallas and Houston especially.
