In another question on this site, someone said that if you are a Pagan, then you cannot be a Christian. I wholeheartedly disagree, especially after reading "The Pagan Christ" by Tom Harpur. He shows the Pagan roots of Christianity. For me both practices have deep spiritual meaning and it only strengthens Christianity to show that, because so much of it comes out of Paganism, that it is actually older than just 2000 years. The cycles of the seasons can easily parallel the story of Jesus' birth, life and resurrection. For example, in December I celebrate the solstice with a prayer to Mary, thanking her for bringing Jesus (the Light) into the world.
I am very interested to "hear" other people's thought-out views on this. Please, no disrespectful comments about any religious group.
