Can you canel a prophecy?

Let's say a prophecy says that Alex is destined to kill Zander. If I killed Alex what would happen? Would Zander live or get killed by someone else? I probably read this answer from somewhere put I forgot.

um obviously he wouldn't be killed by alex... however he may or may not die.... thing is you can't always believe what you hear as a prophecy.... in fact i've seen tarot readings that showed death.. but that death may actually mean the end of an old way and the begining of the new... but i tell you this.... meddling with things you find can cost you dearly... i'm telling you this because i've seen walls shift, making faces come out of them and arms and start grabbing people.... abusing knowledge from a higher source than humans.. is a bad idea...
