Integrating Biometrics to Personal Computers’ Security Using Existing Peripheral Devices

Main Problem:
Be able to ordinary text passwords to make personal computers’ security stronger and more protected against hackers.

Hypothesis:
We can replace text passwords with biometric type of security. Biometrics would be a strong security to be hacked since it is based on unique biological characteristics; thus, personal computers’ security will a have good protection against hackers.

Sub-problems:

1.How can already existing peripheral devices are used to integrate biometrics to personal computer’s security?

Hypothesis: Already existing peripheral devices can make the task of integrating biometrics to personal computers much easier for it would mean that inventing other devices would not be necessary any more.

2.What existing peripheral devices can be used to make biometrics a tool for file security in one’s own personal computer?

Hypothesis: Web cams can be used for face, eye recognition; Microphones can be used for voice recognition; Touch pads can be used for fingerprint recognitions; Scanners can be used for hand recognitions.

3.What are the advantages of biometrics over ordinary text passwords?

Hypothesis: Biometrics would give hackers difficulty in hacking one’s files compared with ordinary text passwords.

4.How can this new way of computer security make files more secure?
Hypothesis: Biometrics would be a tough security since all people have unique biological make-ups.

5.What other types of biometrics can be used to secure files in personal computers?
Hypothesis: We can combine all biometrical securities to come up with even a stronger security.
