can you get back files that were accidently erased on a CD RW or DVD RW? If so how?

A friend of mine accidently erased some important files of mine that were on a rewritable disk.
 
Nope. When an erasable disk is erased, the media is actually melted back to a flat layer. There is no way to tell where the holes used to be.
