Can you "hear" a spirit/demon/non-human-being laugh if you have psychic powers?

I'm curious because of what happened to me. I was staying at a friend's house. I was writing - as usual, for me, anyway - when all of a sudden I heard someone laughing. I wondered if it was just my imagination, but then my friend - who is really religious, I might add - started praying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said that "the devil was in her house."

Was that a supernatural experience, or just my overactive imagination? Because she heard it too, and I've been having strange dreams since then.
Not really.

Let me restate this. My friend is 58 years old. (Actually, she was a friend of my mom's.) She lives alone. We were in the middle of nowhere, which is the only reason I'm giving this any credence.

And it didn't sound like it was in the distance. It was loud - booming even.
 
When under the supernatural experience, anything goes. Those who are under such an experience are heavily influenced by Satan the Devil, whichi is the element that many people overlook. In such a state, Satan has complete control over what takes place (from speaking to the dead, inquiring about the dead, hearing voices that you cannot get rid of, self-infliction, etc.)

Many people who dabble in the occult and other forms of divination and spiritism do not understand the strong force that is behind is, thus explaining why it is extremely hard for those who are demon-possessed to break free. Demons are spirit creatures who rebel against God and and his spirit (or angelic) creatures. Consider the following principle on magic.

The Bible, however, makes no distinction between magic that is good and magic that is evil. In the Law given to Moses, God made his position quite clear. He said: “You must not practice magic.” (Leviticus 19:26)
Deuteronomy 18:10-12: “There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you.”

Why did God say that? It is not because he intends to deny us what is beneficial. Jehovah gave these laws to his people because he loved them and did not want them to become enslaved by fear and superstition. Instead, he invites his servants to approach him for the things they need. He is the Giver of “every good gift and every perfect present.” (James 1:17) The apostle John assured fellow believers: “Whatever we ask we receive from [God], because we are observing his commandments and are doing the things that are pleasing in his eyes.” (1 John 3:22.)
 
Isn't it a wee bit more likely someone just laughed off in the distance?
 
i would never say anyone is psychic at all. the Bible say all those people are just in tune with the devil. and even Christian people and non Christians can see, hear, and get messed around with, by demons. it's happened to me before. and i can guarantee that this was a demon and your friend has faith and did the right thing. Only Christ can take them away from you.
 
It was an overactive imagination. Your friend is probably particularly susceptible to suggestions about what might be real or imagined. Or maybe it was a TV somewhere. Or someone walking by outside the apartment laughing.
Sounds like your friend also is willing to always look on the darkest side of things. She could have as easily said "An angel is in my house" and that would have been about as meaningful ... or probable.
 
Yes, many people have this ability. Some don't even know they have it until they have an experience like yours, then they will question their own sanity or someone else will.
You can sense things on the other side. Sometimes there is a thin vale between worlds.
If you ever go to a drumming, you may hear Indians chanting.
I have heard them and even when I was not at a drumming.
Also smelled smoke and roses. Don't be frightened. There is nothing to fear. Enjoy it when it happens.
But if you do experience fear, prayer certainly helps.
