One of my friends recently got accused by Verizon FiOS for downloading copyrighted material illegally using BitTorrent. I use the client and FiOS too and I'm suspicious of them tracking my packet transactions... I've heard of programs like IPREDator, TOR, Hide-IP-Soft and some other ones, but do they actually work? Do they protect you from you ISP tracking your downloads? If so, which anonymity service is the best?

A court order trumps your anonymous proxy if they get slapped with one.

No matter what you use you are still connected through Verizon FiOS. So even though you may find a way to encrypt the data it is still flowing through their system to yours. Proxy and IP masker software will do nothing to change that.
