kay so today I baught. A blueray player from bestbuy and I have some divinci speakers and i was wondering If u can hook up the speakers to the blueray and make it a surround sound? If so how
First of all DiVinci is one of the "White Van Scam" brands so they are pretty low-end and of questionable ability to mix with other gear.
Second - you need an AV Receiver to sit between the BluRay player and the speakers. Or you run optical out from the TV to the AV Receiver (either way works), then the receiver is connected to the speakers.
Third - The AV Receivers assume you have a 5.1 speaker system - hopefully with a self-powered subwoofer. If you dont have this - you wont get all the sounds you expect.
My advice: Look on Amazon for "Onkyo Home Theater" and take a look at what budget-but-decent home theater system looks like. Then try and find something similar in your price range.
And toss those DiVinci speakers. They will likely cause a fire.
You really need a separate head unit for something like that... You can use any head unit, as long as it has an input plug(jack, "little hole on the back" etc.) and you can switch the output, like from radio to AUX or PHONO... even CD Player. Just make sure whatever is at the end of the speakers' wires will go into the back of the stereo head unit.
