Can you identify this rare 80's sci-fi movie?

I saw this on TV all the time from the late 80's-to early 90's on the disney channel (I think). The last time it was on that I saw it was around '96. It was about a girl from the future or something. She lives in a world where everyone dresses in white and they travel in some kind of sphere that I believe was a crystal. They were able to take showers and be dry in seconds. She drops into a convenience store and meets a girl that helps her figure her way around earth. I remember the girls dressed like young Madonnas. At some point there is a guy with a ponytail that kidnaps the alien girl. She is taken away to a house with lots of stuffed animals and held hostage because he wants to find the portal and she is the only way to find it. It's hard for me to remember everything so this may seem like a strange description but this is what my child memory found important. Any ideas?
