Can you instal a dvd drive from an old pc(Benq), into a dell computer?

My dell computer doesn't have a dvd drive, but it does have a cd rom drive so therefore it can read dvds or pc dvd games. I was wondering if i can uninstall the dvd drive from my old Benq pc, to my new Dell computer? And if so, will the dvd drive read dvds or pc dvd games on the dell computer? Both pcs are desktops.
 
As long as it has the same connectors then it should be fine and be recognised.

If it isnt recognised you will need to go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers for the drive but you probably won't need to do this.
