Can you play PAL games on a NTSC PlayStation 3? Will this affect Blu-ray regions?

In other words, is the PS3 region locked? Because I want the 80GB version of the PS3 with the extra USB ports and memory card reader and can't wait for it to come in the UK. And will this affect Blu-ray movies, i.e. will I be able to play PAL movies on a NTSC PS3? Please answer both these questions, thanks.

yep, Blu Ray is not region locked!! PS3 is region-free only to Blu Ray Games and Movies. With PS2 games and ps1 games, they are indefinitely region-locked
DVD and CD are region locked

1) Normal DVDs/PS1/PS2 games will be unplayable because their still reigon locked.

2) Most PS3 games will be playable as their reigon free. However some games are locked (e.g PAL spiderman 3 does not work on NTSC consoles - i've tried and wasted £40)

3) Bluray movies are supposedly reigon locked but i have played loads from different reigons so GO FOR IT.
