Correction: Before the factory warranty expires. And if so, how much? And can it be purchased from a dealer even if the original purchase was from a pvt seller?
 
No.

You have to buy an extended warranty before the original warranty expires.
 
You can definitely buy it only if the original warranty is still valid
We had a quote on Elite extended warranty for our lexus 5 yr unlimited klms and it was $1300 ask your dealer for pricing on yours
