Can you replace peppermint candy with peppermint extract in cookie recipe ?...

...(quick 10 pts. )? I am trying to make peppermint cookies, however, I do not have peppermint candy. Could I replace the peppermint candy with peppermint extract? And how much peppermint candy is equivalent to how much of the extract? Thank you so much.
