It is natural for people to feel a need to get revenge when something wrong or unfair has been done to them. If one kid hits another, it would be the injured child’s natural reaction to hit the other back. Now think about all the movies you’ve seen or stories you’ve read when a husband cheats on his wife. Does she ever just sit there and do nothing about it? No. She may go cheat with another man, or use her husband’s credit cards to buy herself all sorts of expensive jewelry. Although the need for revenge may seem natural, it very rarely pays off in the end, and this is apparent in both real life and many texts. One such text is William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” which shows many examples of revenge escalating a problem.
