Can you use the 1/8th inch female plug on an iPhone to use the telephone

feature AS WELL AS to play music? I know that I can play my music from my iPhone through my car's stereo by plugging in a connector from a cassette-type or small radio transmitter, designed to interface w/ the iPhone but, if I dial or receive a phone call, will the calls' audio also play through my car's stereo?
My stereo does NOT have an auxiliary ("aux") or "line" input.
