Can you watch recorded programs on a directv receiver w/out the service?

We are moving and are switching satellite services, what I need to know is can we watch the programs on our DVR without subscribing to Directv services? We have a lot of movies that we haven't watched yet, and I was just wanting to hook up the box to a TV and view them. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
I bought the equipment, it is mine.
 
Yes you can actually. I was in the same situation as you about 2 years ago. Given that your box isn't drastically different, you should be able to watch anything you previously recorded.
 
I'm not sure I understand. Aren't you supposed to return the DVR before you move?
