Can your employer tax your travel pay ?

I work for a company that pays me for travel and we get a paycheck at the beginning of each month for the amount we are owed. My employer is going to change the way we get our travel pay, by putting it into our first paycheck of the month, instead of getting a separate check for it. I’m not sure how this is going to turn out, if it’s going to be added after or before the taxes are taking out of my check. I plan on calling HR to find out but I was curious to hear what other people have to say about this topic? I live in the state of CT if that matters. Thanks.
