Cancun to Cozumel- Traveling between?

What's the best way to travel with luggage between Cancun and cozumel.
I'm wondering if it's possible to spend a few days in Cancun then a few days in Cozumel. How would we make the transition between hotels? Any suggetions what to do with our stuff between check-outs at one place and check-in at the other?
 
collectivos (mexican shuttles basically) are really cheap ways to get around and there are many that are big nice buses. Once you get to Playa del Carmen, you'll want to take the boat over to cozumel and even with all the luggage it shouldn't be that much of a hassle besides lugging them around for half a day. good luck and have fun in mexico
