Can't find a programme to open/download update my files - please help! :{?

Hi :} I have Toshiba tempro on my computer,..it's saying I have files to download (20! :{)- All of a sudden it started trying to open the files with irfan view?! These are file updates/downloads,...I don't know what programme to set it to open the files?!?! i've tried adobe, winzip...I'm a computer novice please please someone help
